Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We arrived back in Kuala Lumpur early in the morning on March 19. We were really tired and couldn't find a place with a cheap open room so we finally took a place that was a little pricey but decided we would hunt the next day for something cheaper. We took a much needed nap and then headed out to explore the city. We visited one of the central markets then journeyed to the other side of the city to check out the Chow Market. Yikes-a-roni! This market had tons of dead fish and chicken just hanging above their stand. They had every part of a cow you could imagine... the head just sitting on the table waiting to be purchased, the brains, they had it all! That night we walked around the night market bargaining and buying things we probably don't need! But it's just too much fun!
The next day we moved to a cheaper guesthouse and by far the scariest one thus far, but we thought it was only two nights we can manage. We spent the day truly covering the whole city by foot. We visited the Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, and everything in between. There was an insane amount of malls here. Every block had a HUGE mall, they put Mall of America to shame. Each mall we went into was at least five stories tall some even bigger than ten stories. We did find one with an amusement park in it which was pretty cool. By the time we got home it was quite dark and we were exhausted we decided to call it an early night. When we got back to the room we grabbed our bags off one of the beds and an entire ant family started scattering around. I am talking the ENTIRE family... 3rd and 4th cousins included! It was sick. The bathroom was even scarier, it was a shared bathroom on the floor and the ceiling was missing too much tile, mold everywhere, and every bug you could imagine hanging out in there. As if the stained walls and VERY stained carpet weren't a sign. Tucked my pants into socks and wore a long sleeve shirt to bed... and it was about 80 degrees in the room. One night there was sufficient for us, sure thing we left the next morning to find a new place.
After finding a place (a legit place that fortunately wasn't holding the ant family reunion) we headed to the bus station and got a bus to Genting Highlands. Genting Highlands is like a mini Vegas on top of a mountain about 45 minutes out of Kuala Lumpur. When we got there we took a gondola to the top of the mountain, we visited a small amusement park there. They had a few roller coasters outside and inside so we rode those, played bumper cars, took a boat ride, and did most of the rides there. It was a lot fun and a nice change in scenery. When we got back into the city that night we went to visit the Petronas towers which were all lit up, it was phenomenal.
The following day we took flight back to Thailand. We are now beginning our beach journey. We have planned to spend the next three weeks traveling south Thailand visiting the beaches.
