Back in Thailand!

We arrived in Krabi, Thailand on March 22. We took a bus from the airport to Ao Nang Beach. We each took a side of the road and began room hunting. It was proving to be very unsuccessful so I stayed with the bags and Mark ran ahead in search of something in our price range. He came back and got me and we went straight to the only place he had found in our price range. As we were walking up the hill to bungalow a Russian kid behind us said "excuse me I have a favor to ask of you guys." Ohhhh dear! Sure enough this guy wants our bungalow because it's the last one available and his friend recommended him to stay at this place. We just spent two hours in the intense heat looking for a room and this is the only room we found in our price range, everything else was double and triple the price. Please tell me this is a joke. He goes on to tell us that he has another place, but he wants to stay here. Normally we probably would have felt bad and gave him the room, but knowing he already had a place and it being the only thing we could afford we just couldn't do it. Then he follows us to the bungalow changing his story about the place has meaning and goes into him getting engaged and his fiancee flying here in a few days and how long it took him to ask her and woah... it got weird. We told him if he really needed it we woud check out tomorrow and find somewhere else and he could have it then. He turned around got on his moped and left, strange. We didn't hear from him again so we stayed a few days!
Ao Nang is a small city on the beach, pretty touristy. There were a lot of families and package tourists so everything was pretty expensive. We spent the first day just hanging out on Ao Nang Beach, which was beautiful. People come by on the beach selling grilled corn on the cob, spring rolls, chicken on a stick.. it's awesome! We spent the night playing cards, walking around the city, and checking out the night market.
The next day we got a boat taxi ride to Ao PhraNang or Cave Beach in Railay. Railay is about a ten minute boat ride from where we were staying. It's only reachable by boat so everything there is pretty expensive which is why we decided to stay in Ao Nang instead. The beach was BEAUTIFUL! The water was so turquoise, there were huge limestone cliffs everywhere. At the end of the beach there is a little cave where the fishermen use to visit before fishing as it was thought to bring luck. Seeing all the limestone cliffs with small cave like areas we decided we really wanted to kayak here so instead of booking an overpriced tour we are going to do it ourselves tomorrow. Should be fun! It was a great day at the beach. We found a great food stand for dinner and enjoyed a nice walk around town. Thanks for reading. Peace!
